Mr. Nguyen Van Son, vice chairman of the Hoi An People's Committee of Quang Nam Province in central Vietnam, said the leaders of the People's Committee would not permit to build the cable car in south of the city.

Earlier, on January 2, 2018, the NVN Company based in Quang Nam submitted a proposal to the Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee to study and propose a project to build the Hoi An cable car in Duy Xuyen District and the Hoi An City.

On January 5th, the People's Committee of Quang Nam Province asked the People's Committee of Hoi An Town, Duy Xuyen District People's Committee to work with this company to find the solution.

According to Mr. Son, after working hours, studying the company's records, the leaders of the Hoi An People's Committee agreed not to deploy the cable car project in the city for many reasons. "We are making concrete reports to the People's Committee of the province," said Mr. Son.

It is known that NVN wanted to invest in a 7 km long cable car project in the Thanh Ha area, Cam Kim of Hoi An City, crossing the Thu Bon River to connect with the Duy Nghia Commune of the district of Duy Xuyen. According to the calculations of the investor, the total capital of this project is about 2.100 billion VND.

Many people who love Hoi An cannot hide the joy when the city refused this project. Previously, when they knew that the company wanted to build the cable car in Hoi An, they expressed opposition by believing that the project did not correspond to the old city recognized as the World Cultural Heritage.
