Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam welcomed its first visitors of the year 2018 in the morning of January 1, 2018. Visitors brought smiles to the city with unexpected events even for themselves.

At 00:45 in the morning of 1/1, the first domestic visitors arrived at the Domestic Terminal of Tan Son Nhat Airport on flight VJ173 of VietJet Airlines, departing from the Hanoi capital to Ho Chi Minh City. At 6:45 am, Ho Chi Minh City welcomed the first international visitors arriving at the International Terminal by VN10 flight of Vietnam Airlines departing from Paris of France.

The lucky guests were Parent François, Mbodj Camtam, Phan Thi Thanh Hiep, Scheider Sylvie, Cornec Marive, Mota Ellyn, Marco Baiutti and God Jacques who are French people.

"From event activities to commercial activities, services, industries at all levels aim to better serve travelers. We anticipate that in 2018, the number of travelers will reach 7.5 million people," said Tran Vinh Tuyen, Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee at the airport during the reception ceremony.

In 2017, the number of international visitors to the city is estimated at 6,389,480 people, an increase of 22.88% over 2016, reaching 110% of the plan for 2016; Domestic tourists are estimated at 24,982,800 people, up 14.6% over the same period, reaching 100% of the plan in 2016.

In 2018, it is estimated that 7.5 million foreign travelers will visit Ho Chi Minh City, an increase of 25% over 2017 and that there will be 29 million domestic tourists, an increase of 15, 2% compared to 2017. In the coming months, the city will announce the tourism development strategy and plan until 2030. However, Ho Chi Minh City will implement the strategy and plan for each period.
